German School Association in Manila – Board
The German School Association in Manila is a registered organization under the German law. Members of the association are all the parents of GESM students who in turn have to choose among themselves seven board members. The head of school as well as the representatives of the German Embassy are not allowed to cast a vote.
The most important task of the board is to be responsible for the businesses of the school association, especially for the strategic development of the school. This includes the creation and control of the budget. The board has total freedom of how it wishes to dispose of the said budget responsibly.
The current members of the board are:
Paolo Kopitzke - Chairman of the Board
Rainer Guetler - Vice Chairman of the Board
Tobias Hoschka - Treasurer
Tess Schotel - Marketing/PR
Steffen Minkmar - Personnel and Human Resources
Vahe Akillian - International Section
Stefanie Dornau - Secretary/Legal Affairs
Astrid Martínez López- Head of School
Juergen Schrod - Representative of the German Embassy
According to our new corporate objectives, the school should not only cater to German or German-speaking children and families. We also want to open our doors to Filipino and other families from different nationalities. Therefore, we have made decisions to develop the school to a German and European School.
Milestones from this new thrust is the creation of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the European Section which we have integrated gradually in our Kindergarten and Primary school. Further to this, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme has also been successfully implemented.
