Dear parents, pupils, teachers and employees of GESM,
As the new headmistress of the German European School Manila I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself:
My name is Astrid Martínez López and I am from Frankfurt/Germany. I teach the subjects German, Spanish and Physical Education and have worked at different schools in several countries: at the German School Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain); at the European School Brussels II in the capital of Europe (Belgium); and at the Hohe Landesschule Hanau, a secondary school in the vicinity of Frankfurt (Germany).
The goal of my pedagogic work has always been to help young people become independent, tolerant and confident individuals.
A school has to allow its students to broaden their knowledge, acquire skills and develop their personality.
All these things should happen in an environment where playing, fun and friendship make studying together a joy and where a special emphasis is always put on respecting each other.
The German European School Manila has what it takes to create such an environment. The students get the opportunity to make friends and develop their potential in a European-international atmosphere. These are the ideal conditions to later succeed at university and in your career in a globalised world.
I look forward to working at the school and with you. In addition, I am excited about getting to know the people and life in the Philippines.
I wish you all a successful school year 2011/2012!
Ako’y umaasa sa isang matagumpay na taong 2011/12!
Ich wünsche Ihnen allen ein erfolgreiches Schuljahr 2011/2012!
Astrid Martínez López
