Boxing Yes, folks, we will have a boxing gym, where all pent-up aggression can be channelled to the 60lb punching bag. Your new coach, Dodie Peñalosa, is quite a celebrity. He is two-division world champion. Penalosa ruled as the IBF light-flyweight and IBF flyweight king in the 80’s and was hailed as the
“Manny Pacquiao of his time”. In fact, he is currently Manny Paquiao’s conditioning coach as well as other Las Vegas bound Filipino fighters. He has since become the trainer of Nonito Donaire. Together on April 19, 2009, the team defeated Raul Martinez in Donaire’s third title defense of his IBF Flyweight championship, a belt he once held in 1987.
Considered the most popular fighter during his prime, Dodie Boy Peñalosa is the first Filipino to become dual world champion. What makes this so special is that Penalosa has been polio-stricken since birth! Despite his disability, Dodie was perhaps one of the most complete fighters in the 80’s and 90’s.
Peñalosa is a humble gladiator, and a testament to bravery, courage, and that nothing is impossible to those that believe and work hard to achieve their goals. Exactly the values he will bring to our school.
Indeed, this means that from now on, any complaints logged on to our athletes would now have to go through our boxing coach for “processing”!
Open to kids 10yrs old and above.
