Philosophy of the German School Manila - Kindergarten and Pre-Primary Program

At the German School Manila, we believe in a well-balanced, holistic education that acknowledges your child as an individual, and supports all aspects of the development of your child.

All aspects of development are interrelated
Our primary belief is that each individual child should be allowed, and even encouraged to make his own unique experiences within different social environments, situations and problems through the use of all of their senses as this is how children instinctively perceive their environment. Learning through experience and understanding are essential opportunities that will enrich each child on a holistic level. The intellectual and emotional sides of the child are both simultaneously, and age appropriately developed to ensure a well balanced, contented and secure child – thus enabling them to discover and develop strategies for dealing with the world around them not just for the present but also skills that are relevant for the future.

Nurturing the child’s independence and self-esteem is one of our main focuses
As all children are different - each with their own set of talents and learning paces, it is our mission to assist each child to explore his environment and encourage him to blossom in his specific fields of interest without heightened social or academic pressure. We encourage them to complete much of their work with as little assistance as possible, resulting in increased self-confidence and having a healthy sense of self. Children need to know that you believe in them to believe in themselves – this both motivates and reinforces their fun in learning.

Responsibility towards others in a social group
As the children become more aware of their own bodies (physical strengths), their talents/skills as well as their physical and emotional limitations, our next goal is to equip each child with the social skills necessary to be able to function in a group environment. They are taught to find their own social role within the group as well as to value their individual skills, and recognize how these can positively affect their social group – for when a child has a healthy sense of self, it is easier for the child to use his capabilities to the fullest.

Parent–Teacher Cooperation is encouraged to support the child’s healthy personality development
The Kindergarten and Pre-Primary groups implements their educational mission while maintaining constant contact with the parents and other concerned legal guardians. We believe that to effectively connect with your child, we must take into consideration the home situation as well as the personality of each child. We aim to complement and support the upbringing or the child within their individual families, therefore the close collaboration of the parents with the teachers provide us with valuable information which is relevant to the child’s healthy personality development.
