Kindergarten und Vorschule
Here at the German European School Manila Early Years Section we offer lessons for children aged three years and above. Hereby classes are divided into two different age groups: Kindergarten (3 to 5 years old) and subsequent Preschool (5 to 6 years old). In Kindergarten a maximum of 24 children are taught and looked after by qualified teachers while the Preschool class can cater for a maximum of 14 students.
The language of instruction is German. During a school year the students are working alongside certain themes (e.g. family, Christmas, animals, feelings and many more) to enhance their knowledge and improve their skills in an age-appropriate setting. While doing so, we follow a holistic approach to enable our students to interact with their environment and gain new experiences.
Your child will have the opportunity to interact with children from different cultural backgrounds and nationalities – not only inside the classroom but also on the playground and other facilities on campus.
We support the independence of our students. For us democracy and participation belong to the key elements of education; commensurate with their age, the children will be encouraged to have their say when it comes to decision-making and selecting projects for example.
In Kindergarten and Preschool we follow the “Concept of Education of Thuringia”. It consists of seven areas of learning that are integrated into our pedagogical concept here at school. Those areas are:
- Motor and Health Education
- Scientific and Technical Education
- Mathematical Literacy
- Artistic-creative Education
- Socio-cultural and Moral Education
As an approved German School Abroad with the quality seal of “Excellent German School Abroad”, which was again been awarded in 2017, we put much emphasis on promoting the German language. We offer additional German language support for our students in small learning groups four times a week for 30 minutes each. Those lessons are adjusted to the respective language level of the students and are conducted in a playful way. More detailed information about language support is available here.
When finishing Preschool the students are equipped with the relevant skills needed and looking forward to starting Grade 1 with lots of enthusiasm.
A regular school day begins at 7:30am and finishes at 1:30pm. From Monday to Thursday your child is welcome to stay for an optional afternoon activity (1:30pm to 3:00pm) like football, cooking, arts and crafts, photography, ballet and the like.
Our school bus providers offer transfer services for almost all areas of Manila. That way you can be rest assured that your child will safely be picked up from your home and brought back to your doorstep after school ceases.
