Student Led Conference at the Kindergarten and Pre School

Our school’s first Student Led Conference was held Tuesday, 27 May 2008 for the European Section and the German School Kindergarten and Pre-School. Parents from both sections were invited to spend an hour in the classroom with their children.

During this hour, the children had the chance to show them around their classroom and explain some of the activities they have been involved in over the year. They were also able to share with them their portfolios. These are files that the children have created to show samples of work that they have produced over the year related to their 6 units of inquiry. (4 for Kindergarten) Parents also had the chance to ask them questions about specific pieces of work, further encouraging the children to reflect on the year. (And of course show off all the new things they know)

The day was a great success with a 100% parent attendance. Some even taking time off work in order to be there.

The student Led Conference will be held annually around May and next year will also incorporate 1st and 2nd grade classes as well as Kindergarten and Pre-School.
