On January 20, students from the German and French School show the changing conditions in their respective countries during the turbulent 20th century.

10 crossroads

10 themes determining the destiny of two nations

10 stages

from archrivals to collaborators of the European Union

GESM’s Klasse 10 and EFM’s Classe de seconde takes us through a series of 10 displays of historical events that affected the entire world, events that generated the evolution from hostile to friendly relations between the two countries.

The themes of the displays such as:

• The Versailles Treaty and the hardships of the 20’s and 30’s when both countries experienced a crisis

• The Resistance Movement in both nations against Hitler

• The Summits at Yalta and Potsdam and the Nuremburg trial which determined conditions in both countries and led the world to the “Cold War”

• The Reconciliation and Unifying Concept of the EWG,EG and EU

• The key historical figures who played important roles during the Reconciliation process

• The German-French Friendship Agreement (Treaty of Elysée)

will take the visitor through a vivid, emotion-filled journey through history that will ultimately lead to the desired Vision for the Future.
