These German section 3rd graders share with us how they celebrated Easter amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. See how insightful their thoughts and stories are below:
Gute und schlechte Seiten der Corona-Virus Quarantäne

Ich werde Euch über die guten und schlechten Seiten der Quarantäne erzählen. Ich habe Erfahrung, weil ich schon fünf Wochen in meiner Wohnung stecke. Zuerst kommen die guten Sachen, dann die schlechten.
Gute Sachen:
1) Mein Papa ist jetzt immer zu Hause.
2) Ich habe immer Zeit zum Lesen und Spielen.
3) Wir haben online-Jiu-Jitsu Unterricht auf ZOOM.
4) Ich muss nicht um 5h30 aufstehen.
5) Wir können die Berge von unserem Wohnzimmerfenster sehen, weil jetzt weniger Umweltverschmutzung ist.
6) Ich habe mehr Zeit mit meiner Familie Brettspiele zu spielen und Puzzles zu machen.
Schlechte Sachen:
1) Alle Flüge sind gestrichen und ausgerechnet auch der nach Boracay, wo wir hinreisen wollten.
2) Wir dürfen nicht raus. Der Spielplatz und der Pool sind geschlossen. Nur die Erwachsenen dürfen mit einer Maske Lebensmittel einkaufen gehen.
3) Viele Menschen werden krank und viele Menschen sterben.
4) Millionen von Menschen verlieren ihre Arbeit und dann verlieren sie ihr Geld und können nicht essen.
5) Es gab vier Fälle in unserem Wohngebäude und ein Mann ist gestorben.
Insgesamt ist für meine Familie die Quarantäne okay. Wir haben genug Platz in unserer Wohnung zum Spielen und Turnen und um aktiv zu sein, und wir haben die notwendigen Lebensmittel. Wir wissen, dass es sehr schlimm für viele andere Menschen ist, aber wir sind dankbar, dass wir genug haben und gesund sind.
Positive and Negative Aspects of the Corona-Virus Quarantine

I will tell you about the good and bad sides of the quarantine. I have experience with this because I have been stuck in my condo for five weeks now. First, I will list the positive, and then the negative aspects.
Positive aspects:
1) My dad is always home now.
2) I have a lot of time to read and play.
3) I get to continue my Jiu-Jitsu classes online via ZOOM.
4) I don’t have to wake up at 5:30am.
5) We can see the mountains from our living room window because there is less pollution.
6) I have more time to play boardgames and do puzzles with my family.
Negative aspects:
1) All flights were cancelled including our scheduled flight to Boracay.
2) We are not allowed to play outside. The playground and the pool are closed. Only adults are allowed to go outside with masks to buy groceries.
3) Many people are getting sick and many are dying.
4) Millions of people are losing their jobs and their income and then they don’t have enough food to eat.
5) There were four positive cases in our building and one man passed away.
Altogether the quarantine is okay for my family. We have enough space in our home to play and do exercise to stay active, and we have the necessary food. We know that the situation is really awful for so many other people, but we are thankful that we have what we need, and that we are healthy.
Ein gewöhnlicher Tag von Lea in Corona-Zeiten

Da wir alle momentan in Quarantäne stecken, sieht der Tag eines Schulkindes meistens anders aus. Darum zeige ich euch, wie so ein Tag eines Schulkindes aussieht:
Leas Tag
Lea steht morgens auf und geht ins Bad um Zähne putzen, sich frisch zu machen und sich anzuziehen.
Das Frühstück schmeckt lecker. Wenn sie gut gestärkt ist, setzt sie sich an den Computer/Tablet/Handy und geht auf Office 365 Teams online.
Um 8.30 Uhr findet eine Videokonferenz mit dem Lehrer und den Mitschülern statt.
Nach der Videokonferenz warten die täglich gestellten Aufgaben auf sie.
Wenn sie ein paar Aufgaben erledigt hat, macht sie eine kleine Pause.
In dieser kleinen Pause isst sie nochmal eine Kleinigkeit und spielt ein bisschen.
Sie setzt sich wieder an ihren Schreibtisch und macht weiter die Aufgaben. Um 11.35 Uhr findet noch einmal eine Videokonferenz statt.
Mit dem Ende der Videokonferenz ist für sie heute Schulschluss.
Die Spaghetti mit Tomatensauce geben ihr neue Power, um nach dem Mittagessen in den Pool zu gehen.
Nach dem Pool geht sie ins Bad um zu duschen. Bis zum Abendessen macht sie noch Dies und Das, aber sie liest vor allem ihr Buch weiter. Das ist so spannend, dass sie nie aufhören möchte zu lesen.
Der Abend ist immer so schnell vorbei. Sie muss sich schon bettfertig machen. Müde geht sie ins Bett und träumt hoffentlich von schönen Dingen.
An Ordinary Day for Lea in the Time of Corona Since we are all in quarantine at the moment, the day of a school child usually looks different. So I'm going to show you what a schoolkid's day looks like: Lea's day Lea gets up in the morning and goes to the bathroom to brush her teeth, freshen up and get dressed. The breakfast tastes delicious. When she is well fortified, she sits down at her computer/tablet/cell phone and goes online on Office 365 Teams. At 8.30am there is a video conference with the teacher and classmates. After the video conference, the daily tasks are waiting for her. When she has completed a few tasks, she takes a short break. During this break she eats a snack and plays a little bit. She sits down at her desk again and continues doing the tasks. At 11.35 a.m. there is another video conference. With the end of the videoconference, school is over for her today. The spaghetti with tomato sauce gives her new power to go to the pool after lunch. After the pool she goes to the bathroom to take a shower. Until dinner she does this and that, but she mainly continues reading her book. This is so exciting that she never wants to stop reading. The evening is always over so quickly. She has to get ready for bed. Tired, she goes to bed and hopefully dreams of beautiful things.

Easter Sunday
"On the morning of Easter Sunday, I went hunting for Easter eggs." said Lennox. But there was none to be found. Then I went to my bedroom. There, I just read a book.
Afterwards, I played Kniffel with my sister. While playing, I asked my parents: "When is breakfast ready?" My parents answered: "Yes, breakfast is almost done!"
As me and my sister went out the room, we were astonished by the sight: On the table was a big chocolate cake on which sat an Easter bunny with two surprises for me and my sister.
In the end, we ate everything.

An Easter Story
Thursday, 16 April
On Sunday morning, we wanted to go looking for Easter eggs. Tim and I ran ahead. I shouted loudly: "Mama, come! I found Easter eggs already!"Tim was following a trail. I looked in the bushes and called out loudly, "I found a huge egg!" Papa said, "Come, let's go at the back, to the car." I found a blue bag by the trampoline and a backpack by a palm tree. In the end, we went back inside the house.

An Easter Story
On the weekend, Papa, Kirsten and I blew out Easter eggs. Suddenly, my egg burst and I shouted, "Ah, my egg is broken!" Kirsten laughed and said "Egg rain." Papa whispered to me "Just try to blow out another egg." I did so, and this time it worked. Then we colored the eggs and cut out paper grass. The Easter nest was done.
