PYP Exhibition takes place on campus!

based from text by Viola Buck

So this year's Grade 5i Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition was held in school -- and the bonus? We were able to invite parents to see the students' works in our school lobby! Parents were able to view the exhibits and engage the student presenters in the morning of June 8.

In the final year of the PYP, our Grade 5 students do an extended, in-depth, collaborative project known as the PYP exhibition. They have been working collaboratively, conducting an in-depth inquiry into their choice of real life issues or problems. They collectively inquired, gathered evidence, and synthesized all of the essential elements of the PYP in ways that can be shared with the whole school community.

The exhibition will provide teachers with a powerful and authentic process for assessing student understanding. The exhibition represents a unique and significant opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the IB learner profile developed throughout their engagement with the PYP. This will also be an opportunity for the whole school community to celebrate the transition of our Grade 5 students to the next phase of their learning journey - Middle School.

Who were the four groups and their chosen topics?

  • Air Pollution by Sophie van Olffen, Pietro Oliveira, Raphael Laguardia and Ayan Khan supporting United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal No.13 - Climate Action.

  • Child Rights by Brandon Ferrandon, Ryou Ogawa and San Yun supporting UN SDG No.4 - Quality Education and No. 16 - Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions

  • Animal Extinction by Issa & Ibuki Okazaki, Eason Chen and Izumi Graf supporting UN SDG No.14 - Life on Water and No. 15 - Life on Land

  • Poverty by Iago Artadi, Robin Bohn and Sancte Gonzalez supporting UN SDG No. 1 - No to Poverty

Their recorded video presentation is now available via International Primary's MS Stream.

Much credit and thanks go to Grade 5i homeroom teacher Mr. Lawrence Buck for his supervision and art teacher Ms. Rain Galvez for helping put the exhibit up!

And thank you to the fellow students who dropped by to view the exhibit!
