What is a Eurocampus?

A Eurocampus is a shared educational campus where two or more European schools (typically French and German institutions) operate in close cooperation while maintaining their respective national education systems.

The Eurocampus Model

At the German European School Manila (GESM) and the Lycée Français de Manille (LFM), this model is reflected in the following ways:

  • Both schools share a common campus and facilities

  • Students learn in a multicultural and multilingual environment

  • The schools collaborate in areas of administration and community life

  • Each institution maintains its own curriculum, academic structure, and identity

The Eurocampus model is founded on the principles of European cooperation, multilingual education, cultural exchange, and international understanding.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A EUROCAMPUS

Being part of a Eurocampus extends beyond sharing physical infrastructure. It represents a shared educational philosophy built on the following principles:

As part of the Eurocampus, GESM is not solely a national school abroad, but an institution grounded in an international and European educational context.

The Eurocampus model represents an approach to education that transcends national boundaries.

Originating in Manila, the Eurocampus became the model for similar Franco-German Eurocampuses later established in Dublin, Shanghai, Taipei, Zagreb and Kuala Lumpur. It brings together different educational traditions within a shared campus, preparing students to thrive in an interconnected and globalised world.
