Internships, German and International

Many young people dream of spending some time abroad before starting their careers, sometimes even before starting university or vocational training. This is preferably combined with an internship.

What does an internship at the GESM involve?
Typically, we allocate interns in our German Section. The internship can concentrate on one department or involve working experience across the departments. You should be aware of the following conditions:
-
Interns at our school, regardless of which area in the school they have been allocated, must be trained as a teacher or educator or have at least completed the first part of their studies or vocational training.
-
Internships should at least be for 6 months to allow for the necessary experience and for admitting a closer contact to students. Please take into consideration that our school year starts in August. Applications for short-term internships (5 months and less) will not be considered.
-
Please clarify your visa regulations with our administration. We will help you to obtain a working permit.
-
Internships are voluntary. The school can assist you with the organisational aspects of your stay in Manila but cannot assist financially. We do not provide monetary support for living costs, but we offer assistance in visa issues, school transport, and housing.
-
After completing their internship, all interns receive a certificate of participation and a report.
-
Candidates should have proficient German and/or English language skills
What can you expect from an internship at GESM?
-
Extensive experience in all aspects of work in an International School with PYP, CAMBRIDGE, IGCSE and IBDP programmes.
-
Experience of a German and European School
-
Experience of a unique setting: Eurocampus, and the cooperation with our French partner school
-
Working in an international and closely-knit school community, gaining intercultural experience and knowledge of Philippine cultures and lifestyles
-
Guidance and support by a mentor
-
Working in a school with modern facilities
The successful candidates should organise their own accommodation during their stay, but GESM supports them in finding appropriate places.
The earlier you place your application, the better. Please note that we have a limited number of places. The longer your internship is, the more likely you will receive an offer. Internships shorter than 6 months are not considered.
