The Secondary School comprises Grades 6 to 10. During these years, students build strong academic foundations while preparing for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations at the end of Grade 10. An optional bilingual pathway enables students with the appropriate German proficiency to continue developing their language skills through selected subjects taught in German.

The Secondary School follows the internationally recognized Cambridge curriculum while preparing students for the IGCSE examinations and future pathways in the International Baccalaureate.
GROWING THROUGH GERMAN
Learn German at Your Level
Beginning in Grade 6, all students study German at a level appropriate to their proficiency. Native speakers attend Deutsch für Muttersprachler (DaM), while non-native speakers receive instruction designed to help them steadily progress toward academic proficiency.

Students with sufficient German language skills may also choose to study selected subjects (History and Biology) in German. This flexibility allows students to transition into German-medium instruction as their confidence grows.
Use German Every Day
Beyond the classroom, German is integrated into everyday school life. Physical Education is frequently taught by both a German-speaking and an English-speaking teacher, allowing students to experience both languages in authentic situations. A similar bilingual approach is used in selected projects, activities, and afternoon clubs, creating meaningful opportunities to strengthen language skills across a variety of contexts.

Our approach allows students to develop their German gradually while keeping the door open to the Gemischtsprachige International Baccalaureate (GIB) in Grades 11 and 12. Students do not need to possess advanced German proficiency upon entering Secondary School. Instead, they can progressively increase the number of subjects they take in German as their language skills develop. This flexible pathway enables many students who begin learning German in the English Section to eventually qualify for the GIB, a bilingual IB Diploma recognized as equivalent to the Allgemeine Hochschulreife (Abitur).
Gemischtsprachiges IB
(Bilingual German-English IBDP)
Students who continue to develop their German language skills throughout Secondary School may choose the Gemischtsprachiges IB (GIB) in Grades 11 and 12. This bilingual pathway combines the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme with selected subjects taught in German and is recognised in Germany as equivalent to the Abitur.
