To mark the 32nd anniversary of German Unity Day on October 3, our primary schoolers were treated to all sorts of Germany-themed activities on campus! Prepared by German section secondary teachers and students, the games and activities featured German music, food, geography, pop culture and other trivia.
Present on campus for the festivities were special guests German ambassador H.E. Anke Reiffenstuel and Parañaque City Administrator Atty. Voltaire De La Cruz. Both were greeted warmly by the GESM community and were thanked ceremoniously for the big parts that the German Embassy and the City Office of Parañaque played to help GESM resume face-to-face classes last school year. Joining the guests of honor was Mr. Roland Odenthal, Chairperson of the GESM school board.
After a tour of the activities going on in the lobby, the guests of honor were led to the new GESM Library Extension to view GESM Campus TV's 2nd episode about German Reunification. They were joined by selected GESM and LFM secondary students.
The film screening was followed by a heartfelt and emotional testimony by Frau Reiffenstuel, who herself was a witness to important historical events that preceded and led to the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany. A round of discussions also took place with the students in attendance, as well as with the City Administrator, Atty. De La Cruz.
To cap everything off, students and guests were treated to German pretzels and some white sausages!
