Twelve students and two faculty members formed the GESM delegation to Kulturantara - Kulturfestspiele 2026, a cultural festival by German schools in the Southeast Asian region. The event is a biannual gathering that aims to bring together students of the different German schools and provide a platform for them to celebrate music, dance and other forms of art, and exchange cultural influences, especially from each other's host countries. This year's Kulturfest was hosted by the Deutsche Schule Jakarta from 22-25 April 2026 and featured participants from schools in Manila, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and New Dehli.
At the opening program, the GESM delegation delivered a high-energy performance that impressed the audience and set the tone for the festival. Their program featured a lively rendition of “Raining in Manila,” the popular anthem “Pinoy Ako,” and a traditional Cordilleran dance that highlighted Filipino cultural heritage.
Throughout the week, the students also took part in various workshops, collaborating and learning alongside peers from other schools in the region.
For the closing program, they returned to the stage for special fusion performances, created in partnership with student counterparts from other participating schools. These collaborative pieces highlighted creativity, intercultural exchange, and shared artistic expression.
Through their participation, the GESM students showcased not only talent and enthusiasm, but also strong school spirit and pride in their cultural identity.
