The children had been looking forward to this special day for a long time. The preschool children from the “Vorschulfüchse” and “Seaturtles” groups came together with their parents for a creative school cone crafting afternoon.
Beforehand, the children had thought about how they wanted their school cones to look and choose their own themes. The parents brought matching decorations and craft materials. With great enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication, each child created a unique masterpiece. The finished cones featured a variety of designs, including unicorns, soccer themes, butterflies, and LEGO. Each school cone reflected the interests and wishes of its future owner.
The school cone (Schultüte), also known in some regions of Germany as a “Zuckertüte” (“sugar cone”), is one of the highlights of a child’s first day of primary school. Filled with small gifts, sweets, and useful school supplies, it makes the start of this new chapter in life even more exciting and memorable.
The tradition of the school cone has a long history. It dates back to the early 19th century in Germany. At that time, children were told a charming story about a special tree on which school cones grew. According to the legend, children were allowed to start school once the cones on the tree were ripe. This wonderful tradition has been passed down through generations and remains an important part of the first day of school for many families today.
We would like to thank all parents for their support and wonderful cooperation. The finished school cones turned out beautifully and have made the children even more excited for their upcoming first day of school. We wish all future students a successful start and many exciting experiences in school.
