Two of our 6th-graders -- brothers Yune & Hyun -- went around their village to ask the people about how the pandemic has affected their lives so far. In this short article, they tell us about this experience and what we can learn from it.
The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. It came from China in December 2019 and quickly spread around the world in January 2020.
The DOH has advised the public to use protective measures. It is still the best way to protect yourselves from COVID-19. Always practice proper hand washing-wash with soap and water for 20 seconds. Use an alcohol and hand sanitizer if you don’t have soap. Wear your mask when you go out and practice social distancing. It’s better to be extra careful than to get the Corona Virus.
As many communities’ struggle to tackle with this challenge, we asked around our village to see how people are coping with According to workers in the village. The construction workers said, “They don’t have permanent work, so they don’t have money to feed their children.” Most of the workers have lost their jobs. This pandemic causes anxiety to all the workers who do not reside inside the village. “Their lives have become boring and sad.” because they cannot go out to visit their families.
However, the Ayala Alabang Association has given the workers some help, like food supplies.
The village imposes curfew hours from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am and they allow the access to essential goods and services as well as individual outdoor exercises and public transportations. The Saturday Market has closed due to the rise of virus. The playgrounds have been closed to protect people here, as well.
As grade 6 students, we advise that you follow the simple rules which starts at home. Be safe everyone! Corona virus is dangerous.
