On the 16th of June, parents and students of Grade 5 gathered for a brief assembly, as the Head of Secondary, Mr Chester Eziekel, presented the upcoming goals and expectations of Secondary School. This transition is an important milestone for the students as it supports their understanding of continuous academic growth and introduces them to external assessment systems such as the Cambridge and Pearson examinations.
This transition plays a key role in helping students understand the progression of their learning, as well as the increased independence and responsibility that come with secondary education. It also serves as an introduction to internationally recognized assessment systems such as the Cambridge and Pearson examinations, which form an important part of the school’s academic framework. These examinations are significant because they do not only measure academic knowledge, but also help develop essential skills such as critical thinking, analytical reasoning, time management, and independent study habits. By becoming familiar with these expectations early, students are better prepared to adapt to more structured and demanding forms of assessment in the future.
The assembly also underscored the importance of gradual preparation. Exposure to examination-style learning at this stage allows students to build confidence and reduce anxiety, while developing effective study routines over time. This foundation supports a smoother academic transition and encourages a more consistent and reflective approach to learning. The event reinforced the importance of collaboration between students, parents, and the school in supporting this next stage of learning, ensuring that students are well-prepared not only academically, but also in terms of mindset and learning habits as they enter Secondary School.
