by Jeffrey Troyer
This year Mr. Troyer’s Grade 10 Geography group produced some exceptional ecotourism projects as a part of their unit on the challenges of globalization. The intricate sketches, posters and accompanying unique ecofriendly concepts were to be commended. Their focus was to embrace the future of Philippine and world ecotourism by designing environmentally friendly resorts that can both educate their visitors as well as provide them with a quality and relaxing holiday. Some of the ecofriendly features they proposed were using recycled wood for construction, salt water pools, composting, hydroponic gardens and solar panels to cut down on the carbon footprint. The students are to be commended for their ingenuity and desire to see tourism here and around the globe embrace sustainability!
