The German European School Manila (GESM) left a strong, highly visible mark at Mabuhay Germany 2025. Held at Bonifacio High Street in BGC on November 7-8 under the theme "In High Spirits", Mabuhay Germany is the flagship trade fair of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI). It featured the participation of the German embassy, Bosch, Lufthansa Technik, and other institutions and companies.
The occasion revived GESM school spirit and earned warm praise from the German community and visitors. With 93 students participating and the support of numerous faculty and staff, the school’s presence — from booth to main stage — became a festival highlight.
The booth, assembled in the early hours before the event, drew steady crowds. Visitors praised its welcoming presentation, informative displays and hands-on activities showcasing GESM’s bilingual, international learning environment. Highlights included a robotics activity and specialised iPads; student science projects on microplastics, Mars exploration and sustainability; and a kindergarten corner furnished with authentic German-made furniture from school classrooms, where young visitors joined arts-and-crafts activities.
Students’ main-stage performances on both days were equally striking: energetic, heartfelt pieces that drew enthusiastic applause and many congratulations. Organising nearly a hundred students and coordinating a large team of teachers and support staff was a major logistical task. Staff worked late into the night to erect the booth, prepare costumes and props, and choreograph segments — an effort that underscored how parents, alumni, teachers and students rallied to ensure a memorable presence.
The strong turnout at Mabuhay Germany provided a public demonstration that GESM is as
active, visible and thriving as it ever has been.
“Seeing our students perform with such confidence reminded us what makes GESM special: community, creativity and care,” said Deputy Head of School Aleksandar Krstovic. “The positive feedback confirmed that our school community continues to be vibrant and engaged.”
“We will continue to go out and show ourselves; our German and global profile is unique,” added
Academic Director Julien Ferrandon.
The event also reinforced GESM’s visibility within the broader German and international community in the Philippines: former partners and alumni reconnected, and new visitors discovered the school’s programmes. Attendees and organisers praised the collective effort of students, teachers, parents, and
volunteers as central to the school’s standout presence.
The German European School Manila extends its thanks to everyone involved and looks forward to continued community engagement, building on the momentum from this event.
