St. Martin’s Day Celebration at GESM

On November 21, 2024, the German European School Manila finally celebrated St. Martin’s Day after two postponements due to unfavorable weather. The event brought together students, teachers, and parents to honor the spirit of sharing and community, which is at the heart of the story of St. Martin.

A highlight of the celebration was a dramatization of St. Martin’s story by students from Grades 3D and 4D. Their performance retold the famous tale of St. Martin sharing his cloak with a beggar on a cold night, inspiring everyone with its message of kindness and generosity.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the preschoolers from both the English and German sections performed on stage twice. They sang traditional St. Martin’s Fest songs in German, accompanied by delightful dance movements, charming the audience with their enthusiasm and energy.

The celebration also included the traditional lantern procession, where children showcased their beautifully handcrafted lanterns, lighting up the school grounds in a festive display.

To cap off the evening, guests enjoyed Glühwein (mulled wine), Kinderpunsch (non-alcoholic punch), and Weckmann bread, given out by parent volunteers organized by the Parent Council (GEB).
