This year's PYP Coffee Morning was extra special with the participation of parents from both Grundschule and English Primary. PYP Coffee Morning is an engaging information session intended for families who are new or would like to know more about the IB Primary Years Programme. During this session, parents get to know and experience how teaching and learning are delivered in a PYP classroom. As one of the few (and pioneering) PYP schools in the Philippines, GESM supports the IB mission to help develop knowledgeable, inquiring, and caring young people who help create a better world through intercultural understanding and respect. It's about creating a balance of children who are academically prepared and, at the same time, understand their role as responsible global citizens. GESM, also having been awarded the Seal of Excellence as an "Excellent German School Abroad," was commended for our multicultural setting and the school climate for teaching and working. With this, the PYP Coffee Morning emphasizes the value of language learning - having children who are bilingual or multilingual, confidently communicating in German, English, and their home language. Given this emphasis on language learning, our next information session/workshop for parents will be about the DaF Enrichment Program and our English as an Additional Language Program.
