On January 22, 2026, preschool children from the German European School Manila (GESM) and the Lycée Français de Manille (LFM) came together to mark the 63rd anniversary of the Élysée Treaty, which symbolizes cooperation and friendship between Germany and France.

The GESM preschoolers (Kiga-E, Kiga-D, Vorschule & Pre-Primary) and children from the LFM Maternelle spent time together on the playground, using play as a natural way to get to know one another across languages and school communities. This was followed by a joint creative activity focused on hand painting.

For the art activity, the children had their hands painted in the colors of the German and French flags. Using these handprints, they created abstract artworks that combined both sets of colors. The activity highlighted cooperation, diversity, and shared expression, while remaining accessible and age-appropriate for the children involved.

Through shared play and creative work, the children experienced the core idea behind the Élysée Treaty: building connections across borders from an early age, through everyday interaction and collaboration.
