Spirit Week at GESM!

As October is coming to an end, German European School Manila (GESM) celebrated its annual Spirit Week, bringing students and teachers together for a series of themed activities leading up to Halloween on 31st October.

Throughout the week, students were encouraged to participate in a different theme each day, adding a little creativity and fun to their usual school routines. The themes were also shared within the school community through the GESM Executive Student Council, helping students stay informed about the celebrations.

The week began with Pyjama Day, when students swapped their usual school attire for comfortable sleepwear. This was followed by No Backpack Day, which challenged students to find creative alternatives to their usual school bags. From baskets to unexpected everyday objects, students came up with imaginative ways to carry their school supplies.

Twin Day gave friends and classmates the opportunity to coordinate their outfits, while Jersey Day encouraged students to represent their favourite sports teams. Each day brought something different to the campus, with students expressing their personalities and enjoying the creativity of their classmates.

As Halloween falls on Saturday, 31 October, this year, the school held its celebrations a day earlier, on Friday, 30 October. To conclude Spirit Week, students were invited to come dressed in their Halloween costumes for Costume Day and take part in activities around the school, including trick or treating.

More than an opportunity to dress up, Spirit Week gave students a chance to interact with one another in a different setting and share moments outside their regular classroom activities. The variety of themes also made it possible for students of different ages and interests to take part in their own way.

As an annual school tradition, Spirit Week remains an occasion for the GESM community to enjoy a little creativity, spend time together and bring October to a close with the Halloween celebrations.
