As part of the Theater Days, the theater classes of Grades 5D and 6D, along with the DaF learners from Grades 5E-a and 5E-b, presented their workshop performances. The theater class chose a scene from the play “Murder in the Fairy Tale Forest.” The story goes like this:
Not long ago, the princess threw a frog against the wall, which then turned into a prince. Her jealous friend Rosenrot now tries to force her own luck by repeatedly dropping her golden ball into a well, hoping a frog will bring it back so she can throw it against the wall too.
But all the frogs die, and it turns out they are endangered “midwife toads.” Four commissioners from the human world start investigating. In the fairy tale land, the homeless wolf is suspected as the culprit, but only Little Red Riding Hood defends him. The two even plan to get married, which meets strong opposition, especially from the hunter and the prince, who secretly loves someone else.
Anyone who wants to find out how this humorous, crime-themed fairy-tale mix ends should definitely come to the performance just before the summer holidays. It’s a play about outsiders, prejudices, and helicopter moms. Don’t miss it!
In addition to this entertaining play, Grades 5E-a and 5E-b presented key scenes from classic fairy tales in German. These performances gave the students a great opportunity to further develop their German skills and stage experience.
Theater is an excellent way to develop German language skills and fundamental abilities. By rehearsing and performing plays, students strengthen their language skills, learn teamwork, and improve their expressiveness.
