GEB donates Little Professors

In a thoughtful gesture aimed at enhancing math education, the Parent Council (Gesamtelternbeirat, "GEB") of the German European School Manila (GESM) recently donated a set of Little Professor calculators.

These classic tools, designed to assist children in mathematics, have been a staple since their introduction in 1976. The Little Professor calculator is a low-tech device that serves as a valuable aid for children aged 5 to 9 in practicing arithmetic. Unlike conventional calculators, the Little Professor doesn't provide the answer to a mathematical expression entered by the user. Instead, it generates unsolved expressions and prompts the user to solve them.

This unique feature encourages children to actively engage with mathematical problems, fostering a hands-on approach to learning. Originally designed as a backwards-functioning calculator, the Little Professor has become a timeless tool for honing mental arithmetic skills.
