GESM’s MUN group got into our first action of the school year by participating in this year’s MUN Locals 2020, graciously hosted by British School Manila in Bonificio Global City. The two-day event which kicked off on Friday October 9th via Zoom, welcomed the seventeen international school participants from all over the Philippines. After a brief introduction and explanation that donation proceeds from the event will go towards purchasing PPE equipment for local schools in need, the delegates joined their committees by following the appropriate Zoom links.
Understandably, the focus of many committee topics centered on the international response to Covid-19. As the pandemic and our personal experiences unravel, this should make for a superb full conference once it re-commences in January.
Participating in the event were GESM students Billy Wootton (Gr.12), Kai Matus (Gr.11) and Bianca Figovc (Gr.11) along with Fahama Dastgeer (Gr. 9) and Shagorika Kar (Gr. 9).
Finally, it is with great pride we announce that GESM’s MUN leadership team of Billy Wootten and Kai Matus have been selected and approved to participate in the highly prestigious Yale MUN, to be held over four days from January 21-24, 2021. We wish them good luck in their preparation and congratulations to all of this year’s “LOCALS” participants.
