The Houses of Primary are off to an exciting beginning this school year! One of our first big activities was the election of House Captains and Vice-Captains.
Before the voting, the children had a lively discussion about what makes a great leader. They shared ideas such as being kind, responsible, fair, and someone who can listen to others. It was inspiring to hear how thoughtful they were about the qualities of leadership.
Afterward, students nominated their friends who showed these qualities and who were also willing to take on the role of Captain or Vice-Captain. Then came the democratic process where everyone had the chance to cast their votes!
Through this activity, the children experienced democracy in action at their own level. They learned that having a voice, making choices, and respecting the results are all important parts of working together as a community.
We are proud of how our students embraced this process, and we are excited to see how our new House Captains and Vice-Captains will lead their Houses with teamwork and spirit throughout the year!
