This term in Science, Grade 1E dove into the fascinating world of rocks. Through hands‑on investigations, sorting and classification activities, and guided discussions, they learned about the rock cycle, how rocks change over time, and what these changes reveal about Earth’s history.
Parallel to this, our Unit of Inquiry examined landforms: mountains, valleys, volcanoes and plains. Students studied how these features form, how they differ, and why they matter. Making the connection between rocks and landforms helped pupils see how geological processes shape landscapes across time.
To deepen their understanding, the Grade 1E class visited the National Museum of the Philippines. There they examined real rocks, minerals and geological displays, many tied to the landforms found around the country. Seeing authentic specimens and interpretive exhibits brought the concepts from class to life and made the learning more memorable.
The trip sparked curiosity, prompted thoughtful questions, and reinforced classroom learning. Students returned inspired and better equipped to explain how rocks and landforms tell the story of our planet.
