A Model United Nations (MUN) Simulation

Over the past few weeks, our MUN students prepared for their first-ever MUN simulation. The topic, “Should single-use plastic be banned globally?”, helped students learn how countries can work together to solve global problems.

This mini simulation was an important step in preparing for our first MUN conference in March. For many students, it was their first time speaking in a formal debate and representing a country.

The session was led by Diego (Gr. 11 – Secretary General) and Saadi (Gr. 9E – Deputy Secretary General), who acted as Chairs. They explained the MUN procedure, kept order, gave the floor, and managed the time, helping the students feel confident and supported.

The participating delegates -- Tulika (7E), Dalila (8E), Rio (10E), Omar (7E), and Jonathan (7E) -- showed great motivation and confidence. For their first simulation, they performed very well and actively took part in the discussion.

At the end of the session, the students received group and individual feedback from the Chairs, which helped them understand their strengths and how they can improve.

Together with my co-advisor, Mr. Troyer, we would like to thank our MUN students for a dynamic and inspiring year and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. After the holidays, we will hold another simulation before heading to our first official MUN conference in March.
