A Moving Farewell: Mr. Buck’s Retirement Celebration

After more than 50 years in education, Mr. Lawrence Buck is retiring.

Since 2017, he has been a part of the German European School Manila (GESM). On 18 March 2026, students and colleagues surprised him with a heartfelt assembly, featuring poems, songs, dances, and a touching video tribute in his honor. The event concluded with students and colleagues forming a line to shake his hand, hug him, and give farewell cards.

Mr. Buck joined GESM in 2017 as Head of the International Section and later continued as a homeroom teacher. Prior to that, he was the founding headmaster of Mahatma Gandhi International School and also led the British School Manila when it had a presence at the Eurocampus.

His dedication and passion for education will remain in our hearts. We wish him a fulfilling retirement, well-deserved after all these years.
