GESM Chess Team Impresses at MISAA Tournament

Students from the German European School Manila (GESM) continued their strong run at the second leg of the Manila International School Athletics Association (MISAA) Chess Tournament, held on March 7, 2026. Following their encouraging results in the first leg earlier in the season, GESM’s young chess players once again demonstrated focus, strategy, and determination at the board.

In the Under-8 category (32 players), Mark N. (1E) delivered a solid performance, scoring 3 points and finishing in 9th place. Kimi K. (1E) followed with 2 points, while Louis J. (1E) completed the tournament with 1 point.

GESM students also competed strongly in the Under-11 division (45 players). Ivan L. (4E) and Shrihaan V. (4E) both scored 4 points, finishing in 6th and 8th place respectively. Rishika G. (4E) added 3 points to secure 16th place, while David L. (4E) finished with 2 points.

Another highlight came in the Under-14 division (44 players), where Shaquille C. (6E) earned the silver medal with an impressive 4 points, finishing 2nd overall. Liam C. (7D) also scored 4 points to claim 6th place. Yishan G. (6D) followed with 3 points (15th place), while Tulika (7E) finished with 2 points and Bogdan L. (8E) with 1½ points.

Congratulations to all participating students for representing GESM with dedication and sportsmanship. The team now looks ahead to the next leg of the MISAA Chess Tournament, scheduled for May.
