On June 13, 2025, the entire GESM community gathered in the auditorium to warmly welcome home the athletes and coaches who proudly represented the school at the 16th Southeast Asian Games for German Schools in Singapore. The event was a chance to celebrate their achievements and recognize the hard work and dedication shown throughout the four days of competition.
The atmosphere in the auditorium was filled with excitement as the 20 athletes — 10 boys and 10 girls — took to the stage alongside their coaches. The crowd of students, teachers, staff, and parents applauded loudly as the athletes displayed their medals: a remarkable 19 medals in total, including 2 golds, 7 silvers, and 10 bronzes. GESM’s outstanding performance earned the team an impressive 2nd runner-up finish overall in the tournament.
Head Coach Mr. Florian Simmelbauer addressed the audience and shared highlights of the team’s journey in Singapore. He spoke with pride about the determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship shown by the athletes in volleyball, swimming, athletics, and football. He also thanked the students for representing GESM with such integrity, and the coaches, parents, and school leadership for their support.
The program ended with loud cheers and congratulatory messages from fellow students and teachers. The sense of unity and school spirit was clear, as the community came together to honor a team that had not only competed with skill, but also strengthened friendships and built memories that will last well beyond the tournament.
