International Primary opens S.Y. 2020-21 with a dance-off!

28 Aug 2020 | by Viola Buck

We opened the academic year in Primary International Section with a heartwarming message to each other as children themselves shared their class Essential Agreements and read letters of encouragement to the lower grade levels.

Schooling is a balance of academics and being good citizens. Another important component is the much-needed social interaction amongst the members of the school community. The main purpose of our Opening Assembly was not just to welcome our students but to also allow them to see their vibrant school community from the Head of school, teachers, and students from all grade levels. It was lovely to see our dear parents join us as well! I am very proud of the messages shared by our Caring, Principled, Knowledgeable, Reflective and risk-taking students as they read their message with utmost confidence and enthusiasm! As shared by the students themselves,

”We will support each other, care for each other"
"Follow your dreams and never give up"
"Let us always respect one another"
"Come ready to learn!"

As teachers, we understand the social-emotional impact of the situation to our students so together, we decided to create a fun environment in our assembly by having a dance off between teachers and students. How we danced our hearts away! And thank you to our awesome parents who joined in our dancing! We then voted and the award went to the best dance group -- our students! Congratulations!

We ended our assembly with an important message for everyone - Resilience. Whatever the situation, we will carry on learning together by ensuring that we have each other's support and the much-needed care.

All the very best to all our teachers and students and looking forward to seeing you all in our 1st PYP Assembly on September 10th which will be hosted by our Grade 5 students who will present their learnings about Rights of a Child.
