With much anticipation and build-up, MUN LOCALS was set to return to the campus of ISM again and GESM answered the call! On Friday October 3rd and Saturday the 4th, a spirited group of GESM students ranging from grades 7 through 12, put their best foot forward to take on and debate some of the most challenging and important world topics of the day.
Embracing the theme of “One Present, One Tomorrow”, eleven students including Secretary General Afraaz A. (Gr.12), Deputy Secretary Epiphany R. (Gr.12), Kathe F. (Gr.11), Kohwoon S. (Gr. 10), Sanctē G. (Gr. 10), Queen A. (Gr.9), Summer D. (Gr. 10) and Wenwen L. (Gr.10), Mohammad S. (Gr.9), Sebastian L. (Gr.9), and finally Omar E. (Gr. 7) proudly represented GESM as conference delegates. They joined over 300 students from various parts of The Philippines to discuss pressing committee topics ranging from the ongoing Sudanese Civil War, protecting privacy rights amidst technological developments to the question of tackling the global debt crisis and a host of other pressing topics consuming headlines around the world.
Overall, our student participants showed a commendable level of commitment and are to be commended for their efforts to learn about current events and issues. Special mention goes to our sister school, LFM, who sent a large contingent of students as observers to learn about our MUN. It is our desire to foster more opportunities to work on MUN together. We hope that they can join us for our next conference to be selected by our student leadership, along with advisors Ms. Demet Uengoer, Mr. Jeffrey Troyer and Mr. John Stephany. With more events possible in the 2025-2026 school year, we have some nice choices for our budding ambassadors and future world leaders at GESM!
At the German European School Manila (GESM), students don’t just learn about the world. They engage with it. Discover how GESM empowers young leaders to think globally and act meaningfully.
