Manila Tour – Different Worlds, One City

Rain or shine – our Manila Tour was a day to remember! Despite the heavy rain pouring down throughout the entire day, our new teachers embraced the adventure with umbrellas, raincoats and plenty of good spirits.
Our first stop was Happyland, where the group gained a glimpse into the everyday lives of local communities and experienced a very different side of Manila. From there, we travelled back in time at Fort Santiago, exploring an important chapter of the Philippines’ history.
At Barbara’s, delicious local food was accompanied by traditional Filipino dances and music, offering another lively and memorable way to experience the country’s rich culture.
The afternoon took us to Binondo, Manila’s historic Chinatown and the world’s oldest Chinatown, where the teachers explored the vibrant streets and took on the ₱100 Challenge: each participant had to find a special pasalubong – a small souvenir or gift – while making the most of their ₱100 and, of course, putting their bargaining skills to the test!
We ended the day with pizza, conversation and a chance to reflect on the many impressions and experiences of the day.
The rain may have followed us from one stop to the next, but it certainly did not stop our adventure. In just one day, our new teachers experienced many different faces of Manila – its communities, history, culture, food and vibrant everyday life.
