On the early evening of November 20th, the German European School Manila (GESM) celebrated Martinstag, a cherished tradition in German schools that highlights the values of sharing and kindness. The event began with an engaging play performed by students of Grade 4D and 3D, depicting the historical figure Martin of Tours, who is known for his generosity and compassion.

Following the play, selected students from Grades 1 to 3 (E & D sections) dazzled the audience with a lantern dance performance, showcasing their enthusiasm and teamwork.

The festivities included an adorable lantern dance by the kindergarten and pre-primary children, who were joined by Grade 2D and 3D students for a lively rap of the lantern song!

One of the highlights of Martinstag was the traditional lantern parade around the campus, where children proudly displayed their handcrafted lanterns. The parade culminated in the middle of the sports field, where all the children gathered to sing German lantern songs, filling the air with warmth and joy.

To conclude the evening, everyone was treated to delicious Glühwein, Kinderpunsch, and Weckmänner bread, generously distributed by student and parent volunteers from the Parent Council (GEB, Gesamtelternbeirat). The event was a wonderful celebration of community, kindness, and the spirit of Martinstag, leaving everyone with cherished memories.
