On 1 October 2026, the German European School Manila (GESM) held its Trip to Germany Information Night as part of the Germany in Focus event series, introducing students and families to the upcoming German language immersion programme at the Humboldt Institut in Germany.

The programme, scheduled to take place from 20 March to 7 April 2027, offers students from Grades 5 to 12 the opportunity to experience life in Germany while further developing their German language skills. Through a combination of structured language lessons, cultural activities, and everyday interactions, students will have the chance to practise German beyond the classroom and experience the language in a German speaking environment.

During the information evening, families were introduced to the Humboldt Institut and the structure of the programme, including accommodation, daily schedules, planned activities, and the practical arrangements involved in travelling abroad. The session also provided an overview of participation requirements, estimated costs, and the registration process, helping parents better understand what to expect and how to prepare their children for the trip.

As part of the programme, students will stay in residential accommodation at the Humboldt Institut, where they will attend German language classes and participate in organised afternoon activities and excursions. These experiences are designed to help students apply their language skills in everyday situations while discovering German culture, traditions, and daily life.

Beyond language learning, the trip also encourages students to develop independence, confidence, and adaptability. Living and studying away from home provides an opportunity to take on new responsibilities, build friendships, and become more comfortable communicating in a different cultural environment.

The Trip to Germany Information Night provided families with a clearer understanding of the educational and personal experiences awaiting participating students. Through this initiative, GESM continues to encourage German language learning by giving students opportunities to experience the language and culture firsthand.
