Welcome Back: The First Day of School

Two schoolgirls hug in a bright indoor hallway, wearing backpacks, while adults stand nearby.

On August 12, our school doors opened once again as we welcomed our students back for the start of the new school year. For some, it was their very first day at GESM, while for others, it was the familiar experience of returning to see friends, teachers and classmates after the summer break.

As the first students arrived on campus, the quiet of the summer quickly gave way to the sounds of a new school year. Classrooms began to fill, students reunited with friends, and teachers welcomed both familiar and new faces. For our new students and teachers, the first day also marked the beginning of getting to know the school, their classmates and the wider GESM community.

The first day brought with it new classes, new routines and, for many, a few familiar first-day moments: finding classrooms, meeting new teachers and catching up with friends after the break. It was a chance for everyone to settle in and begin getting comfortable with the new school year.

As our students continue settling into their new routines, we are looking forward to everything the 2026/27 school year has in store, from new projects and activities to the many opportunities to learn, connect and grow together as a community.
