Our Schultüte Celebration!

One of the most special and highly anticipated events in the Pre-Primary year is our Schultüte (cone-making) activity! This wonderful tradition brings together children and parents for a fun, creative, and meaningful experience to celebrate the exciting milestone of moving up to Grade 1. And this year, our cones were more magical and playful than ever — with our class theme of unicorns and football, the room was filled with rainbows, sparkles, soccer balls, and cheers!

The Schultüte, a German tradition, is a large cone-shaped gift that children receive on their first day of Grade 1. These cones are usually filled with small toys, school supplies, and sweet treats — all meant to add a little joy and excitement to this big step in their school journey. But before the surprises go in, we get to make the cones ourselves — and that’s where the fun begins!

Our cone-making day was a celebration of creativity, teamwork, and love. The children came prepared with ideas about what their cones would look like, and with their parents by their side, those ideas came to life. From football-themed cones in team colors to magical unicorn cones with glittering horns and flowers, each child’s design reflected their personality and interests.

Parents and children worked hand in hand, choosing materials, cutting shapes, and carefully decorating each cone. The classroom was buzzing with excitement, laughter, and encouragement. It was wonderful to see parents helping their little ones color pictures, cut decorations and add details on the cones.

More than just crafting, it was a special time to bond and create memories together.

What makes this activity truly meaningful is the love and care poured into every cone. These cones will be given to the children on their first day of Grade 1, filled with surprises and a whole lot of heart. When they receive their Schultüte, they’ll remember how they made it with someone they love — and that makes it even more magical.

As teachers, we were filled with pride seeing how confident and excited our students were. Their smiles said it all! They were proud of their creations, proud to show their parents their skills, and proud to take this next big step.

Thank you to all the amazing families who joined us and helped make this day unforgettable. Your support made everything even more special.
